The most outstanding house that I have seen in my fifteen years in the valley.  An acre, or two acres if you wish, of sculpted gardens, a fifteen by five metre pool, two outside kitchens, five bedrooms or six if you want to use the large study as an overflow bedroom, a gymnasium, a sauna, a jacuzzi, a four car garage and room for another four or five cars in a private parking area.  This house has it all, there is double-glazing on all windows and doors, two air sourced heat pumps for the underfloor heating and the air-conditioning, and absolutely no expense has been spared on the build and fitting out of this 550m2 luxury home.

Add that to the fact that it is on the outskirts of the village and has views across to the Sierra Nevada and the Guajares, is a twenty-five minute drive to the Costa Tropical to the south and the same to Granada city to the north, and you have the perfect house and location.  I searched high and low for a location like this and it took me ten years to find one.  And someone else bought it.

Several steps lead from a cul-de-sac to the porch and the entrance to the house.  Once inside the hall there is a WC with a wet area to your direct front, the dining room and kitchen to the right and to your front the lounge and a twin and a double bedroom.  All the bedrooms in the house have en-suite bathrooms, all have shower cubicles and two of them also have baths.  The kitchen has a high-table to seat six and is fitted out with a high-end six-burner, two-oven SMEG cooker and as with the rest of the house, all fittings are of the highest quality.  Beyond the kitchen is a utility room and pantry.  Large double doors lead from the kitchen to the covered outside dining area with a hand-crafted tiled table which easily seats ten.

On the first floor are the master bedroom, a large study with views across to the mountains, and a further double bedroom.

Steps leading down from the hallway bring you to a very large bedroom, a gymnasium, a sauna, a Jacuzzi and the maintenance room for the solar hot-water panels, the controls for the under-floor heating and the air-conditioning and two stand-by immersion heaters.  There is also a large garage for three or four cars.

The gardens of the house is split into two parts.  On the terrace at house level are 4000m2 of citrus trees and a climbing-plant-covered arched walkway leading to the fifteen by five metre pool, the outdoor kitchen with two barbecues, a pizza oven and seating for everyone.  On the other side of the pool is the bar with beer on draught and a wine chiller.  There is a circular chill-out area to relax after your meal and an outside WC/shower room and the pool equipment room.  To the side of the house is a paved parking area for five cars with a wide metal sliding door leading outside.

Up some stairs is the second terrace with many arched walkways, secluded hidden fountains more fruit trees and sufficient space to sit two hundred guests a table for weddings of other celebrations.  There is a professional standard glass-sided padel court for those who want to work up an appetite before eating.

Up yet another level is an ecological vegetable garden, avocado trees and another covered outside kitchen with a barbecue big enough to roast a whole lamb.  There is a large water cistern for irrigating the gardens, big enough to row a small boat around,) and many lemon and orange trees.  Another marble-topped dining table with views across the valley. These two levels comprise at least another acre.


As I said to begin, there is simply nothing else like this in the Lecrin Valley. The owner is willing to sell the house and all on the house-level terrace, (the pool, outside kitchen, chill-out area) as one entity and keep the upper two levels for himself, or to sell the house and all the land.  It would be a shame to split the two, you can really lose yourself in the grounds and be at one with nature without being isolated from the world.  The most popular restaurant in the valley is a five-minute walk from the front door.

The second and third terraces may, in the future be reclassified as urban land, which gives the possibility of building another house at the top end of the gardens.

The house is fully registered with the Junta Andalucia for rentals and attracts 3,600€ per week in high season.
