Casa de la Roca – Restabal

Casa de la Roca – Restabal

Lecrin Valley (Granada)

A truly outstanding example of a very large, restored village house, with surprises on every floor. Restored in the Moorish style, it is probably the only example of this type of house built in El Valle.

With over 350m2 of house, patios, terraces and balconies, plus a large (10mx5m) swimming pool on the upper level, this is a house for a large family or for someone with more friends than is good for them. It has a restaurant at the end of the street, is within skipping distance of two village supermarkets, three minutes to the bakers, it is ideally situated for evcerything. On the ground floor there is a large atrium with seating for at least a dozen people, a central fountain and patio and a separate kitchen area. There is also a WC and a storage space.

The atrium goes up through the whole house and is covered in the winter with a sliding glass roof which can be opened in the summer to allow the breezes to waft through the house. Up a wide staircase on the first floor are four bedrooms, three doubles and a twin, two bathrooms, a reading room and a large utility room. On the next floor is a study and the master bedroom with a very large en-suite bathroom. There is a lounge, a large dining room and a delightful kitchen and from here there is access to the garden and pool built into the rock, with complete privacy and with views all round the valley and to the mountains beyond. Up yet another floor is the roof terrace with even better views.

This house was one of the original restorations in the Valley of Lecrin, is only about eighteen years old and it is unlikely that another of this size could be built again.
